Car Commericals is the duo of David Sutton (Current Amnesia, Friends & Family) and Daniel DiMaggio (Home Blitz), two creeps from New Brunswick and Princeton, respectively. Their collaboration dates back to a short-lived project called GT Performers, under which these two released a few limited cassette missives via Sutton's Leaf Leaf label. The pair then - ahem - switched gears & become hitherto known as Car Commercials.
Their highly personal, stumblingly messy strain of punk finds its roots in the Suburban nonsensical nihilism of early Half Japanese. But where Half Japanese found inspiration in cartoon horror, Car Commercials seek influence from slasher and gore films. The difference is in the details. |
